House Extension & Refurbishment in Richmond Town Conservation Area
This property was in a very poor state of repair when acquired by our client, with a very small original kitchen area, separated from the garden by an annexe extension.
J7 Architecture Ltd proposed that the existing kitchen should be knocked through 2 adjacent rooms at the rear of the property to create a stunning kitchen / diner of a size in balance with the remainder of the extensive accommodation of this 3 bedroom period house. Sliding folding doors were installed at the end to provide full view and access to the private garden. The kitchen was designed by J7 in a walnut veneer with marble counter, Mandarin honed brushed limestone floor tiling.
The change in level that existed was exploited so that the new marble kitchen counter actually became a seat at the dining table end of the kitchen, as a result of the steps up halfway along the space. This playful design idea makes best use of the space available.
An extension was carried out to assist in forming a further study area. An annexe of outdated accommodation also had all internal walls removed to form the large study / additional bedroom with views to an internal courtyard garden via new large floor to ceiling windows.
Services were completely updated, CAT5 E cabling installed throughout and an infrared based home networking system installed. An integrated music system with ceiling mounted speakers, extensive alarm and CCTV system were also installed.
J7 carried out all the design work, drawings and specifications that enabled the project to be successfully completed.
